We have had a fantastic day celebrating world book day! Lots of fun activities, a cat walk to showcase our costumes and of course some reading. Everybody looked brilliant, thank you for all the support from home.

We enjoyed a visit to Cheadle Mosque to help us understand different beliefs in God. Whilst as the Mosque we we taught abou the five pillars of ISlam, the importance of pilgrimage for Muslims and some of the steps to prayer. We also got to look at the Arabic alphabet and tried to write our names!
RE Theme Day - Celebrating Hinduism

We have had lots fun exploring Hinduism today. We took part in a scavenger hunt to find out some facts about Hinduism, made our own diva lamps out of clay and as part of our learning about the festival Raksha Bandhan we have made friendship bracelets and messages of love to share.

We have had lots fun exploring science and textiles this week. Our week started with an introduction to sewing, usinga running stitch. We then progressed to making our own pouches and using a velcro fastener.
Later in the week we visited MOSI and had great fun on the experiment floor as well as learning all about the revolution of Manchester. The week ended with us using our scooters to learn about friction and stopping distances.

What have we been learning this half term?

We have had a busy half term, full of fun and learning!
This half term we have learnt how to subtract two digit numbers, exchaning a ten. We have taken part in Google's "Be Internet Legends" Day where we develop our awareness of online safety. There have been opporuntiies to reflect and develop personally during "It's cool to be kind" week and on Rememberance Day. As well as lots of teamwork during Geography, Maths, PE and Science.

We had a lovely morning visiting church. We shared the Christmas story with some of us taking part! Then it was time for crafts to help us remember the importance of Christmas for Christians.

Have a look at what we've been up to in music. We began our unit learning the song, Once a Man Fell in a Well. We have already progressed to reading some notation and using instruments to accompany our singing.

We have settled brilliantly in Year 2 and have enjoyed lots of collaborative work as we have; partitioned numbers to 100, found sticks just like Stanley, explored materials and began to explore toys from the past! We can't wait to learn more.

Music Evening this year saw 91 children (almost half the school) performing for us. They showcased their singing, cellos, guitars, ukeleles, violins and steel pans. We were so proud of the skills and confidence on show!

33 of our children took part in a virtual run to raise money for school. So far they have raised approximately £1500. This money will go towards much need funds to update the ICT equipment which is in desperate need of replacement.

Sports Day went really well this year with all the children showing some excellent determination and sportsmanship.
