Phonics

Phonics is taught though out EYFS and Key Stage 1 as a means of teaching reading and spelling.  The school follows the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Scheme.  Phonics is taught in mixed groups, with children being placed in a group that best suits their needs.  Phonics sessions are delivered by both Teachers and Teaching Assistants.

Parental workshops are held annually to ensure parents can support the work of school at home and to inform them of the approaches being used by school to teach phonics.  These sessions are very well attended and feedback has proved to be very positive.
