Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) is the government body responsible for evaluating the quality of education and care in schools across England. Its inspections are designed to ensure that all children receive a safe, high‑quality education that helps them thrive academically, socially and personally.
By visiting schools, talking to pupils and staff, and reviewing teaching and leadership, Ofsted provides an independent assessment that helps families make informed choices and supports schools in continually improving the education they offer.
Ofsted are keen to ensure that parents, carers, and others across the education sector fully understand the new inspection framework and how the updated report cards work. Ofsted Parent View gives parents and carers the chance to tell Ofsted what they think of their child’s school, including:
whether their child feels safe, happy and able to belong and thrive at the school
how the school promotes positive behaviour and a culture where every pupil can achieve and feel respected
If your child has special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), they will ask how well the school supports them.
