PTA
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at St John’s is a formal organisation composed of parents, teachers and school staff that facilitates parental/carer involvement in our school. Our PTA helps bridge the gap between home and school by ensuring that parents/carers have a voice in our children's education, providing additional resources that may not be covered by school budget and ensures the school has an active place in the community.
Through fundraising initiatives, our PTA provides essential support for school programs, educational equipment, and student activities, while fostering a dynamic learning environment where our children can thrive.
What have we achieved in recent years?
- Contribution towards the building of a new outdoor area next to FABS
- Provided new Reception classes with St John’s school bags and our much-loved St John’s learning behaviour books
- Donation towards musical instruments for the school
- Funded the building of the reading shed (aka ‘Book Nook’) located next to the playground
- Created the ‘Lucy Rowley Award’ in memory of a former parent, active PTA member, and illustrator of St John’s learning behaviour book, including trophy, medals and vouchers for winners
- Purchased a set of new iPads
- Funded the defibrillator cabinet at the front of the school and ensured the local community is aware and has access
- Donation towards year 6 leavers hoodies
- Funded the large outdoor shelter in the playground
- Supported our teacher subject leaders with funding for items for their topic area
- Funded the yearly Christmas school trip to the cinema
…and so much more!
How do we do it?
Throughout the school year, we arrange lots of fun events for both children and adults, such as:
- Class bake sales (get your children to help with the baking!)
- Raffles at Easter, the Summer Fair and Christmas Fair
- Summer Fair with a licensed bar, BBQ, and lots of fun activities for all the family
- Family discos with a licensed bar, BBQ and stalls for the children (face painting, candyfloss etc.)
- Non-uniform days
- Christmas Fair with gift stalls, craft activities, games, home-made delicious food, licensed bar and of course a visit from St. Nicholas himself!
- Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls
- Movie nights
What can you do to help?
The continued success of our fundraising depends on the support of parents, carers, family and friends.

- Volunteer at our events - even if it’s for 30 minutes
- Attend our half-termly meetings and bring new fundraising ideas to the group
